“Give me an educated mother, I shall promise you the birth of a civilized, educated nation”, said Napoleon Bonaparte in the 18th Century. Even today, his words ring true, especially in the developing world, where nations are still struggling to achieve equality in education.

While education for girls has become a strategic development priority globally, we still struggle with it in our country. “It is absolutely important to educate girls. “Many parents and teachers/ educators claim that a mother is a child’s first teacher and that an educated mother will be able to raise better educated children.

Girl of today, mother of tomorrow !

The girl of today is the mother of tomorrow and her own education and knowledge, her own economic standing and success, will impact the future of the generation she brings up.

There is an African proverb which states “If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate humanity” meaning if a girl is educated, she will transfer that knowledge and values to all those around her resulting in a positive ripple effect.

Hence educating girls is critical not only for the development of communities and broadly for society as a whole but also it is the most sustainable way to address global challenges like poverty, health issues, ignorance, lack of tolerance and conflicts, among others.

Education empower women !

Eastern philosophy says—while with one hand a woman shake the cradle, with the other hand she would change the world!

Education empowers women, makes them aware of their rights, and enables them to maintain good health and raise healthy children and families.

When girls and women are educated, they make sure that their families grow and thrive in peaceful conditions and not be involved in wars – no mother wants conflict, war, and hunger for her children.
Thus, education of girls and empowerment of women can work wonders in building not just a strong nation but a peaceful one too.

Educate women and see reform !

According to Swami Vivekananda a great philosopher, thinker and reformer of India, “There is no chance for welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved.“

He felt that Education of women is essential for both all-round development of the nation and also for the improvement of women‘s condition in India.

“Educate your women first and leave them to themselves; then they will tell you what reforms are necessary for them” — Swami Vivekananda.
